| 설명 | 염소 또는 염소화합물이 가진 산화작용이나 살균작용에 의하여 행해지는 정수처리. 상수, 하수, 공업용수, 공업폐수 등의 처리에 쓰여지고 있다. 정수처리에서 초기 공정으로 살균, 철이나 망간의 제거, 암모니아 제거 등을 목적으로 행해지는 염소의 첨가작업을 전염소처리라고 하며, 급수 직전에 수도꼭지의 잔류 염소를 보존 유지할 목적으로 첨가되는 것을 후염소처리라고 한다. 하수 처리장에서는 방류 전에 행해진다. 예를 들면, 상하수 처리장의 염소소독 및 유기물의 제거, 침전조의 플랑크톤과 조류의 제거, 분뇨정화조의 살균, 각종 공업용수에서의 균의 증식방지 및 망간의 제거, 폐수 중의 시안제거 등이 있다. |
