| 설명 | 재태주수에 관계없이 출생시에서의 신생아 체중. 남녀 모두 약 반수가 3,000~3,500g에 포함된다. 2,500g 이하(빈도 7%)를 미숙아(WHO, 1951년)로 했는데, 1961년 이 조건에 해당하는 아기를 저출생체중아(2,500~1,500g)로 명명하도록 권고하고 있다. 그 밖에 1,500g 미만을 극소미숙아, 1,000g 미만을 초미숙아로 부른다. 4,000g 이상(빈도 3%)를 거대아라고 한다. 재태기간 주수에서의 출생시 평균체중이 2kg 이내인 아기를 영어로 AFD(appropriate for dates)아, 1,5kg 이하를 SED(small for dates)아 또는 LED(light for dates)아, 1,5kg 이상의 것을 LFD(large for dates)아 또는 HFD(heavy for dates)아로 부른다. 현재 LFD, HFD를 사용하도록 WHO가 권고하고 있다. |

| 설명 | 출생전, 출생시 혹은 출생후의 뇌의 선천기형, 손상 혹은 중추신경계의 병에 의해서 영구적이며, 비진행성인 운동신경 및 정신장애를 일으키는 경우를 뜻한다. 원인은 여러 가지가 있을 수 있으나 조산으로 인한 뇌의 산소공급의 부족, 또는 난산으로 인한 호흡장애 등이 흔한 원인이다. 증상은 대개 비진행성의 뇌 병변으로 인한 운동장애가 대표적인 증상이며 그외에 청력, 시력의 장애, 지능부전, 언어장애, 경련 및 정신장애 등이 동반될 수 있다. |

| 설명 | 신경이나 근육이 형태의 변화없이 기능을 잃어버리는 상태. 감각이 없어지고, 움직일 수 없는 상태를 말한다. 이런 마비는 신경계이상일 수도 있고, 전해질 이상으로 인한 이상일 수도 있으며, 해당 근육의 마비일 수도 있다. 이런 각각의 경우에 대해 모두 감별진단을 해보아야 하며, 치료 또한 각각 다르다. 운동마비는 뇌속 운동중추로부터 말초의 근육섬유 사이에 어떤 장애가 있기 때문에 일어나며, 단마비-반마비-대마비-사지마비 등이 있다. 단마비는 상-하지 중 1지만이 마비해 있는 것을 말하며, 주로 대뇌겉질 운동부위 장애 때문이다. 반마비는 신체의 어느 한쪽 중의 상-하지에서 볼 수 있으며, 마비 중에서도 가장 많고, 속섬유막 부근에 뇌출혈-뇌혈전증-뇌색전증 등의 장애가 일어났을 때 일어난다. 대마비는 양쪽 하지 마비를 말하며, 척수장애로 인한 경우가 많다. 사지마비는 양쪽의 상-하지에 마비가 온 것으로서 양쪽의 대뇌-척수-말초신경 등의 장애로 일어나며, 목척수 장애가 가장 많다. 이 밖에도 말초신경마비로 인한 일부 근육운동마비도 있다. 임상적으로는 얼굴신경마비-노뼈신경마비-정중신경마비-자뼈신경마비 등이 알려져 있다. |

| 설명 | 중추성과 말초성으로 나뉘어 진다. 말초성 얼굴신경마비는 외상, 바이러스감염(람세이헌트증후군), 귀병 등에서 생기는데, 원인불명의 것이 많고, 이것을 벨마비라고 한다. 한냉노출이 요인이 되는 수가 있다. 발병은 급격하고 마비는 보통 일측성이다. 마비측의 얼굴에 주름이 생기기 않고, 눈틈새는 넓으며, 눈을 충분히 감지 못하고, 눈을 감으려고 시도하면 안구는 위쪽으로 회전한다. 환측에서는 코입술고랑이 얕고, 입구석은 쳐져서 정상쪽으로 끌리고 음식물이 고인다. 휘파람도 볼 수 없다. 얼굴신경의 장애부위에 따라서 혀의 앞 2/3의 미각장애, 청각과민, 침의 분비장애가 뒤따른다. 통상 2~3개월 이내에 낫는데 남는 수도 있다. 중추성 얼굴신경마비는 뇌혈관장애, 뇌종양 등의 뇌실질장애에서 볼 수 있으며, 얼굴하반부만의 마비이고, 마비측의 이마에 주름이 생기게 할 수가 있다. |
