| betacarotene |
An antioxidant occurring naturally in plants. Betacarotene accumulates in the body in the subcutaneous fatty tissue and skin (cell membranes). Here it performs its most important protective functions. Betacarotene can absorb the incident radiation energy of UV rays and dissipate it without tissue damage. This gives rise to a natural protection of the skin (from within) against the harmful effects of the sun.
