| Bence-Jones protein |
A characteristic protein found in the urine of many patients with myeloma. The protein is a fragment of the larger immunoglobulin molecule secreted by myeloma cells. This fragment carries the technical term of "light chain" two of which along with two "heavy chains" make up the basic immunoglobulin molecule. Detecting light chains in the urine may be very helpful in diagnosing myeloma. ...
