| Arthroderma |
a genus of fungi of the family Gymnoascaceae; the hyphae around the gymnothecium are dichotomously branched, and cells have deep constrictions to give them a dumbbell shape. It has been found to be identical to the former genus Nannizzia. This genus contains the perfect (sexual) stages of fungi of genera Microsporum and Trichophyton. A. cajeta´ni is the sexual stage of M. cookei and A. persi´color is the sexual stage of M. persicolor.
