| arteria gastrica dextra | <anatomy, artery> Origin, hepatic; distribution, pyloric portion of stomach on the lesser curvature; anastomoses, left gastric. Synonym: arteria gastrica dextra, pyloric artery. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|
| vena gastrica dextra | <anatomy, vein> It receives veins from both surfaces of the upper portion of the stomach, runs to the right along the lesser curvature of the stomach, and empties into the portal vein. Synonym: vena gastrica dextra, pyloric vein. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| arteria gastrica sinistra | <anatomy, artery> Origin, coeliac; distribution, cardia of stomach at lesser curvature, abdominal part of the oesophagus, and, frequently, a portion of the left lobe of the liver via an aberrant left hepatic branch; anastomoses, oesophageal, right gastric. Synonym: arteria gastrica sinistra, coronary artery. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arteria colica dextra | <anatomy, artery> Origin, superior mesenteric, sometimes by a common trunk with the ileocolic; distribution, ascending colon; anastomoses, middle colic, ileocolic. Synonym: arteria colica dextra. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arteria coronaria dextra | <anatomy, artery> Origin, right aortic sinus; distribution, it passes around the right side of the heart in the coronary sulcus, giving branches to the right atrium and ventricle, including the atrioventricular branches and the posterior interventricular branch. Synonym: arteria coronaria dextra. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arteria gastro-omentalis dextra | <anatomy, artery> Origin, gastroduodenal; distribution, greater curvature and walls of stomach and greater omentum; anastomoses, frequently unites with left gastroepiploic, and branches from this arch anastomose with branches of right and left gastric. Synonym: arteria gastro-omentalis dextra, arteria gastroepiploica dextra, right gastro-omental artery. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arteria pulmonalis dextra | <anatomy, artery> The longer of the two terminal branches of the pulmonary trunk, it passes transversely across the mediastinum passing inferior to the aortic arch to enter the hilum of the right lung. Branches are distributed with the bronchi; frequent variations occurs. Typical branches to the superior lobe (rami lobi superioris ) are apical (ramus apicalis ), anterior ascending (rami anterior ascendens ), anterior descending (ramus anterior descendens ), posterior ascending (ramus posterior ascendens ), and posterior descending (ramus posterior descendens ); to the middle lobe (rami lobi medii ) are medial (ramus medialis ) and lateral (ramus lateralis ); and to the inferior lobe (rami lobi inferioris ) are superior (apical) branch of inferior lobe (ramus superior (apicalis) lobi inferioris ), and the anterior, lateral (lateralis), medial (medialis) and posterior basal branches (rami basalis). Synonym: arteria pulmonalis dextra. (05 Mar 2000) |
| achylia gastrica | A diminished or abolished secretion of gastric juice associated with atrophy of the mucous membrane of the stomach. (05 Mar 2000) |
| area gastrica | One of a number of small polygonal area's, 1-6 mm in diameter, separated by linear depressions on the surface of the mucous membrane of the stomach; they contain the gastric pits, with several gastric glands opening into each pit. Synonym: area gastrica. (05 Mar 2000) |
| vena gastrica sinistra | <anatomy, vein> Arises from a union of veins from both surfaces of the cardia of the stomach and an oesophageal tributary from the cardiac portion of the oesophagus; it runs in the lesser omentum and empties into the portal vein. See: oesophageal veins. Synonym: vena gastrica sinistra, coronary vein, vena coronaria ventriculi. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ruga gastrica | Characteristic folds of the gastric mucosa, especially evident when the stomach is contracted. Synonym: plicae gastricae, gastric folds, ruga gastrica. (05 Mar 2000) |
| myxorrhoea gastrica | Excessive secretion of mucus in the stomach. Synonym: myxorrhoea gastrica. Origin: Gastro-+ G. Myxa, mucus, + rhoia, a flow (05 Mar 2000) |
| impressio gastrica | A hollow on the visceral surface of the left lobe of the liver corresponding to the location of the stomach. Synonym: impressio gastrica. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tetania gastrica | Tetany associated with a gastric disorder, especially with loss of HCl by vomiting. Synonym: tetania gastrica. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tunica mucosa gastrica | Surface epithelium in the stomach that invaginates into the lamina propria, forming gastric pits. Tubular glands, characteristic of each region of the stomach (cardiac, gastric, and pyloric), empty into the gastric pits. The gastric mucosa is made up of several different kinds of cells. (12 Dec 1998) |
| tunica muscularis gastrica | Muscular tunic of the stomach, consisting of smooth muscles arranged in three fairly well defined layers: an outer longitudinal layer, continuous with that of the oesophagus but dividing at the cardia into two bands which run along the greater and lesser curvatures, leaving the middle areas of the anterior and posterior walls devoid of longitudinal fibres, and then coalescing in the pyloric region into a complete layer which is continuous with the longitudinal coat of the duodenum. The middle circular layer is most complete and strongest, continuous with the circular layer of the oesophagus at the cardia; it thickens progressively toward the pylorus, ultimately forming the muscular ring of the pyloric sphincter. The inner, oblique layer is unique to the stomach and is most strongly developed in the fundic region and absent along the lesser curvature. This absence contributes to the formation of the "gastric canal." See: oblique fibres of stomach. Synonym: tunica muscularis gastrica, tunica muscularis ventriculi. (05 Mar 2000) |
