| 설명 | 급성 위염-창자염이 동시에 일어나는 증세. 각각 개별적으로 일어나기도 하지만 대개의 경우 위염-창자염이 동시에 발병되면서 하나의 병상을 나타내므로 일괄해서 이르는 말이다. 위와 창자의 내막에 생긴 급성 염증으로서 식욕부진, 메스꺼움, 설사, 복통, 쇠약감 등이 특징적으로 나타나며 여러 가지 원인, 즉 대장균, 황색포도알균, 살모넬라균종에 의한 식중독, 자극성 음식의 섭취, 스트레스, 공포감, 분노 등 심리적 원인으로 생길 수 있다. 급성 위창자염은 여러 종류의 식중독균에 의한 경우를 비롯하여 감기나 기관지염 등으로 위창자염은 여러 종류의 식중독균에 의한 경우를 비롯하여 감기나 기관지염 등으로 위창자염의 증세를 일으키는 경우도 많다. 그 밖에 소화가 잘 안되는 음식을 과식하거나 배를 차게 한 탓으로 일어나는 설사도 여기도 포함된다. 치료는 전신의 안정을 유지하고, 식사는 구역-설사-복통 등 급성증세가 없어질 때까지 되도록이면 제한하고, 소화가 잘 되는 것을 소량씩 점진적으로 먹는다. 수분은 특히 제한할 것 없이 적당하게 섭취하도록 한다. 세균성의 경우는 항생물질을 투여한다. |

| diarrhoea, antibiotic-induced | A bacterium called Clostridium difficile (C.difficile), one of the most common causes of infection of the large bowel (colon). Patients taking antibiotics are at particular risk of becoming infected with C. Difficile. Antibiotics disrupt the normal bacteria of the bowel, allowing C. Difficile bacteria (and other bacteria) to become established and overgrow the colon. Many persons infected with C. Difficile bacteria have no symptoms but can become carriers of the bacteria and infect others. In other people, a toxin produced by C. Difficile causes diarrhoea, abdominal pain, severe inflammation of the colon (colitis), fever, an elevated white blood count, vomiting and dehydration. In severely affected patients, the inner lining of the colon becomes severely inflamed (a condition called pseudomembranous colitis).
