| 설명 | 약간 딱딱하고 휘어지는 성질을 가진 특별한 조직을 이르는 말. 귀, 코 등 신체의 휘어질 수 있는 부분을 이루고 있으며, 관절에 존재하여 충격을 완충하는 역할을 한다. 어린이에게서는 뼈의 말단에 존재하며 뼈를 생성하여 뼈를 성장하게 하는 역할도 한다. 연골은 그 특성에 따라서 유리연골(hyaline cartilage), 탄성연골(elastic cartilage), 섬유연골(fibrocartilage)의 3가지로 나눈다. 유리연골은 가장 흔한 형태의 연골로 코의 중격이나 대부분의 관절에 존재한다. 약간 탄성이 있으며 약간 투명하고 푸른빛이 돈다. 탄성연골은 탄력성이 아주 좋은 연골로 귀 등을 이루고 있다. 노란빛을 띠고 불투명하다. 섬유연골은 연골과 섬유성 조직의 중간형태의 연골로 거의 탄성이 없고 척추사이의 척추간원반(intervertebral disc) 등 몇몇의 관절에 존재한다. |

By reflected light, darkfield illumination is attained with an annular con-denser fitted around the objective for opaque objects.
