| ala ossis ilii | The upper flaring portion of the ilium. Synonym: ala ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|
| serine-type D-Ala-D-Ala carboxypeptidase | <enzyme> Cleaves between d-ala residues of bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan; also catalyses transpeptidation of peptidyl-alanyl moieties that are n-acyl substituents of d-alanine Registry number: EC 3.4.16.4 Synonym: ala-ala carboxypeptidase, serine-type, dd-peptidase, d-alanyl-d-alanine-carboxypeptidase (26 Jun 1999) |
|---|---|
| zinc D-Ala-D-Ala carboxypeptidase | <enzyme> Involved in last step of peptidoglycan synthesis; resistant to penicillin; see also record for d-alanyl-d-alanine serine peptidases Registry number: EC 3.4.17.14 Synonym: d-alanyl-d-alanine peptidase, zn(2+)g, zn(2+)g d-ala-d-ala peptidase, zn-ala-ala peptidase, zn(2+)g d-alanyl-d-alanine peptidase (26 Jun 1999) |
| corpus ossis ilii | It forms the upper two-fifths of the acetabulum and joins the pubis and ischium in the acetabulum. It continues above into the ala or wing of the ilium. Synonym: corpus ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| facies auricularis ossis ilii | The irregular, L-shaped articular surface on the medial aspect of the ilium that articulates with the sacrum. Synonym: facies auricularis ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| facies glutea ossis ilii | The external surface of the wing of the ilium marked by the anterior, posterior and inferior gluteal lines that separate the origins of the gluteal muscles. Synonym: facies glutea ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| facies sacropelvina ossis ilii | The medial surface of the ilium behind and below the iliac fossa; it includes the iliac tuberosity, the auricular surface and the smooth pelvic surface below and in front of the auricular surface. Synonym: facies sacropelvina ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| linea arcuata ossis ilii | The iliac portion of the linea terminalis of the bony pelvis. Synonym: linea arcuata ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala major ossis sphenoidalis | Strong squamous processes extending in a broad superolateral curve from the body of the sphenoid bone. The greater wing presents these suraces (facies): 1) cerebral surface: forms anterior third of the floor of the lateral portions of the middle cranial fossa; 2) temporal surface: forms the deepest portion of the temporal fossa; 3) infratemporal surface, forms the "roof" of the infratemporal fossa; 4) orbital surface: forms posterolateral wall of orbit. The greater wing forms the inferior border of the supraorbital fissure, and is perforated at its root by foramina rotundum ovale, and spinosum and the pterygoid canal. Synonym: ala major ossis sphenoidalis, ala temporalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala minor ossis sphenoidalis | One of a bilateral pair of triangular, pointed plates extending laterally from the anterolateral body of the sphenoid bone. Forming the posteriormost portion of the floor of the anterior cranial fossa, their sharp posterior edge forms the sphenoidal ridge separating anterior and middle cranial fossae. The medial end of the lesser wing attaches to the body by means of two pedicles, thus forming the optic canal. The wing itself forms the superior margin of the supraorbital fissure. Synonym: ala minor ossis sphenoidalis, ala orbitalis, Ingrassia's apophysis, Ingrassia's wing. (05 Mar 2000) |
| osteitis condensans ilii | Symmetric benign osteosclerosis of the portion of the iliac bones adjacent to the sacroiliac joints. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala | <biology> A winglike organ, or part. Origin: L, a wing. Source: Websters Dictionary (01 Mar 1998) |
| ala auris | <botany> An ear-shaped appendage at the base of a leaf, leaflet or corolla lobe. Adj. Auriculate. (09 Oct 1997) |
| ala central lobule | The lateral winglike projection of the central lobule of the cerebellum. Synonym: ala lobuli centralis, ala cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala cerebelli | The lateral winglike projection of the central lobule of the cerebellum. Synonym: ala lobuli centralis, ala cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala cinerea | A prominence in the floor of the inferior fovea of the fourth ventricle that overlies the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus. Synonym: trigonum nervi vagi, ala cinerea, ashen wing, gray wing, trigone of vagus nerve, va'gi eminentia. (05 Mar 2000) |
