| 설명 | 다른 사람들이 자기를 살피고 쳐다 볼수 있는 상황을 두려워하고 그런 상황에 처하면 수치심을 느끼는 공포장애(phobic disorder)의 일종. 사람을 만나기 전에 미리 예상하고 불안(anticipatory anxiety: 예상을 하는 것 자체만으로 불안을 느끼는 것)을 심하게 느끼므로 사람과 접촉하는 것을 피한다. 흔한 사회 공포증으로는 사람앞에서 말하기를 두려워하는 대화공포(fear of public speaking), 사람앞에서 얼굴을 붉히는 것을 두려워하는 적면공포(erythrophobia), 사람 앞에서의 식사를 두려워하는 식사공포(sitophobia), 사람 앞에서의 글 쓰기를 두려워하는 서필공포, 공중변소를 사용하기를 두려워하는 공중변소공포등이 있음. 이 장애는 아동기 후반 혹은 사춘기 초반에 시작되며 가족적으로 발병하는 경향이 많다. 합병증으로는 과음, 항불안 약물 남용 등이 있다. |

| rocky mountain spotted fever | <infectious disease> An acute febrile (feverish) disease initially recognised in the Rocky Mountain states, caused by Rickettsia rickettsii transmitted by hard-shelled (ixodid) ticks. Occurs only in the Western Hemisphere. The disease is characterised by sudden onset of headache, chills and fever which can persist for 2-3 weeks, muscle pain. A characteristic rash appears on the extremities and trunk about the 4th day of illness. The rickettsiae grow within damaged cells lining blood vessels which may become blocked by clots. Blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis) is widespread Early recognition of the condition and prompt antibiotic treatment is important in reducing mortality.
