| 설명 | 카메라에 있어서 필름에 해당하는 눈의 망막은 크게 두 개의 층으로 나눌 수가 있다. 안쪽에 있는 실제의 빛을 감지하는 감각층과 바깥쪽의 외부의 빛을 차단하는 색소상피층이 그것인데 그 사이에는 잠재적인 공간이 있어서 떨어지기가 쉽다. 이 사이가 떨어지면 망막의 감각층이 망막의 색소상피층과 분리되는데 이것을 망막박리라고 한다. 이 망막의 박리에는 여러 가지 원인이 있지만 감각층의 망막에 작은 구멍인 열공(break)에 의해서 그곳으로 눈속을 채우고 있는 액체가 흘러 들어가서 생기는 망막의 박리를 열공성 망막박리(rhegmatogenous retinal detachment)라 하고, 안구의 병터에 의해서 안구내에 섬유조직이 생기고 그것이 망막의 감각층을 잡아 끌어서 망막이 박리되는 견인성 망막박리(traction retinal detachment) 및 망막의 2개의 층에 삼출액이 괴어서 생기는 삼출성 망막박리(exudative retinal detachment) 등 열공에 의해서 생기는 망막박리가 아닌 것을 비열공성 망막박리(nonrhegmatogenous retinal detachment)라고 말한다. |

| 설명 | 자궁이란 태아가 수태되어서 분만전까지 발육하고 성장하는 공간이다. 자궁속에 병변이 있어 임신이 계속될 수 없거나 아니면 다른 이유로 임신되어 있는 태아를 제거하고자 할 경우에 사용되는 방법이다. 여기서 긁어내기 위하여는 우선 자궁의 입구에 해당하는 자궁목을 확장시켜야 한다. 여기에는 급속히 확장을 시도하는 법과 서서히 확장을 시도하는 2가지 방법이 있다. 자궁목을 급속히 확장할 때는 헤가르 목관확장기(Hegar's dilatator)를 사용한다. 이것은 작은 금속막대로 작은 크기부터 큰 크기까지 다양한 크기가 있어서 우선 작은 막대로 시작하여 점점 큰 크기의 막대를 자궁목에 넣어서 자궁목을 확장시킨다. 서서히 확장시킬 때는 Laminaria tent를 목관에 삽입하는 방법을 사용한다. Laminaria tent란 해초로 만든 작은 막대로 수분을 흡수하면 점점 늘어나는 성질이 있다. 이것을 자궁의 목에 넣으면 이것이 수분을 흡수하여 늘어나므로 천천히 자궁의 목이 늘어난다. 자궁목이 충분히 늘어나면 그 속으로 끝이 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 넣어서 자궁속의 병변이나 임신된 태아를 긁어내는데 여기에 사용되는 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 큐렛이라고 한다. 초기 임신중절 즉 유산과 같은 임신과 관련된 경우뿐만 아니라, 비임신 자궁의 자궁내막조직의 채취 및 제거를 위해서도 행해지는 수기이다. 이는 원칙적으로 마취하에 실시되는 것으로 자궁목관을 확장하고 기구로 자궁 내용물을 제거하고 큐렛으로 자궁내벽을 깨끗이 한다. 자궁천공이나 자궁목의 파열 등의 위험이 따르며, 수술후 감염 또는 출혈 등에 대한 주의가 필요하다. |

| 설명 | 눈확 안에 박혀있는 공모양의 시각기관이다. 안구는 3층의 피막(공막)과 각막, 맥락막, 망막에 싸여 있다. 각각의 피막은 몇 개의 층으로 나누어진다. 3층의 피막 중에는 빛을 굴절하는 매체[방수, 수정체, 유리체액]이 있다. 외측의 공막은 백색이며 섬유상 조직이다. 공막부에서는 시각신경섬유가 채판의 작은구멍을 통해서 안구내로 들어간다. 공막의 내측 표면은 섬세한 결합조직과 갈색판에 의해서 맥락막과 접하고 있다. 각막은 5층이며, 그 내층은 장막으로서 데스메막이라 불리고 있다. 포도막은 주로 혈관과 색소로 되어 있다. 앞부는 수정체의 주변부로서 섬모체돌기라 불리는 주름의 형으로 끝난다. 망막은 주로 신경조직으로서 크게는 세개의 층으로 되어 있다. 외층막은 신경세포로 되어 있고 그 형상에 따라 원뿔체와 막대체로 불린다. 홍채는 중앙에 동공을 갖는 부분으로, 윤상과 방사상의 평활근섬유를 갖고 있다. 홍채의 색은 여러 가지이며, 수정체의 앞 방수중에 위치하고 있다. 섬모체인대는 홍채를 둘러싸고 있는 고리모양의 결합섬유이다. 섬유체근은 홍채의 주위를 둘러싸고, 조절할 때는 수정체의 형을 바꾼다. 방수는 전부의 각막과 후부의 수정체 사이에 있다. 유리체액은 수정체 후부의 공간을 채우며, 투명한 젤리상의 물질이고, 유리체막에 싸여 있다. 수정체는 유리체액과 방수의 사이에 있는 양쪽이 볼록한 투명한 물체로, 탄성피막과 소대인대에 의해서 알맞은 장소에 달려 있다. 눈의 동맥은 짧은 섬모체동맥, 긴섬모체동맥, 전섬모체동맥, 망막중심동맥 등이다. 신경은 시각신경, 긴섬모체신경, 짧은 섬모체 신경등이다. |

| 설명 | 충혈된 눈을 부르는 말이다. 대개 결막염과 같은 뜻으로 쓰인다. 결막은 눈을 밖에서 관찰했을 때 눈동자를 제외한 희게 보이는 부분을 말한다. 여기에 염증이 생긴 것을 결막염이라 하는데 대개 바이러스감염에 의한다. 전염이 잘 되며, 특히 수영장 이용이 많은 여름에 유행한다. 대표적인 것으로 아폴로눈병, 유행성각결막염 등이 있다. 특징적인 증상은 충혈된 눈모양이며, 치료는 특별한 것이 없고 2차감염을 예방하고 저절로 나을 때까지 기다려야 한다. 대개 2주후면 낫는다. |
