| 설명 | 1. 유전자의 합성이나 변형 따위를 연구하는 학문. 응용 유전학의 한 분야로, 병의 치료나 이로운 산물의 대량 생산을 목적으로 한다. 2. 생물의 유전자를 인공적으로 가공하여 인간에게 필요한 물질을 대량으로 값싸게 얻는 기술. 1970년대에 들어서면서 경이적인 과학기술의 하나로 큰 주목을 끌고 있으며, 이 분야에는 재조합 DNA기술-세포융합기술 및 핵치환기술 등이 있다. 재조합 DNA 기술에 의하여 인공적으로 재조합유전자를 만든 최초의 보고는 1972년 잭슨 등이 하였고, 인공적 재조합유전자를 숙주세포에서 형질을 발현시키는 데 최초로 성공한 것은 1973년 F. J. 코벤 등이다. 이 재조합 DNA 기술은 세균파지, 플라스미드에 관한 연구와 DNA에 작용하는 효소들, 특히 제한효소와 DNA 연결효소에 관한 연구에 의존하였다. 유전공학의 발전은 우리 세계를 바꿀 수 있을 것으로 내다보고 있다. 암을 제압하고 노화를 방지할 수 있어 유전공학은 결국 오늘의 인간이 안고 있는 에너지-식량-의료 등의 문제를 해결해 줄 수 있는 가능성을 지닌다. 이 때문에 유전공학은 ‘제3의 산업혁명’이라고 할 수 있고, 따라서 그 개발을 위하여 온 세계의 기업들이 이의 연구개발에 착수하고 국가들도 전략기술로 다루어 집접 육성에 박차를 가하고 있다. 우리나라에서도 1982년부터 유전공학 분야를 국가가 육성해야 할 특정연구 분야로 지정하고 있다. |

| 설명 | 자궁이란 태아가 수태되어서 분만전까지 발육하고 성장하는 공간이다. 자궁속에 병변이 있어 임신이 계속될 수 없거나 아니면 다른 이유로 임신되어 있는 태아를 제거하고자 할 경우에 사용되는 방법이다. 여기서 긁어내기 위하여는 우선 자궁의 입구에 해당하는 자궁목을 확장시켜야 한다. 여기에는 급속히 확장을 시도하는 법과 서서히 확장을 시도하는 2가지 방법이 있다. 자궁목을 급속히 확장할 때는 헤가르 목관확장기(Hegar's dilatator)를 사용한다. 이것은 작은 금속막대로 작은 크기부터 큰 크기까지 다양한 크기가 있어서 우선 작은 막대로 시작하여 점점 큰 크기의 막대를 자궁목에 넣어서 자궁목을 확장시킨다. 서서히 확장시킬 때는 Laminaria tent를 목관에 삽입하는 방법을 사용한다. Laminaria tent란 해초로 만든 작은 막대로 수분을 흡수하면 점점 늘어나는 성질이 있다. 이것을 자궁의 목에 넣으면 이것이 수분을 흡수하여 늘어나므로 천천히 자궁의 목이 늘어난다. 자궁목이 충분히 늘어나면 그 속으로 끝이 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 넣어서 자궁속의 병변이나 임신된 태아를 긁어내는데 여기에 사용되는 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 큐렛이라고 한다. 초기 임신중절 즉 유산과 같은 임신과 관련된 경우뿐만 아니라, 비임신 자궁의 자궁내막조직의 채취 및 제거를 위해서도 행해지는 수기이다. 이는 원칙적으로 마취하에 실시되는 것으로 자궁목관을 확장하고 기구로 자궁 내용물을 제거하고 큐렛으로 자궁내벽을 깨끗이 한다. 자궁천공이나 자궁목의 파열 등의 위험이 따르며, 수술후 감염 또는 출혈 등에 대한 주의가 필요하다. |

| 설명 | 1. 질병의 진단수단으로서 환자의 몸을 보는 진단. 만지는 진단, 두드리는 진단, 듣는 진단 등을 통하여 검사하는 것. 신체검사. 2. 건강상태를 알기 위하여 신체의 각 부분을 검사하는 일 또는 법원의 신체에 대한 증거 조사. 일반적으로는 흔히 소지품의 검사라는 뜻으로도 쓰인다. ② 학교보건법상 : 학생들의 체격검사-체질검사-체능검사를 말한다(2조). 학교의 장은 해마다 학생과 교직원의 신체검사를 해야 한다. 다만 교직원에 대한 신체검사는 ‘공무원 및 사립학교교직원 의료보험법’에 의한 건강진단으로 이에 갈음할 수 있다. 신체검사실시의 시기-방법-절차 등은 교육부령으로 정한다(7조). 학교의 장은 신체검사의 결과 전염병에 감염되었거나, 감염되었다는 혐의가 있거나 감염될 우려가 있는 자의 등교를 중지시킬 수 있다(8조). ② 형사소송법상 : 법원이 증거자료를 얻기 위하여 신체를 검증하는 것을 뜻한다. 법원은 사실발견에 필요하면 신체검사를 할 수 있고(140조), 감정인 및 수사기관도 신체검사를 할 수 있다(173-219조). 신체검사는 검사를 당하는 자의 성별-연령-건강상태 기타 사정을 고려하여, 그 사람의 건강과 명예를 해하지 아니하도록 주의하여야 한다. 여자의 신체 검사를 할 때에는 의사나 성년의 여자를 참여시켜야 한다(141조). 법원은 신체 검사를 하기 위하여, 피고인이 아닌 자를 법원 기타의 지정한 장소에 소환할 수 있다(142조). |
