| 설명 | 매독은 매독균(Treponema pallidum)이라는 균에 의한 전염병으로 대부분이 성교를 통해 감염되며 드물게 키스, 수혈 등에 의하여 감염될 수도 있고 모체에서 태반을 통하여 태아에게 감염될 수도 있다. |

| 설명 | 임부가 매독에 감염되어 있으면 임신 후기에 매독균이 태반을 통해 혈행성으로 태아에 감염(수직감염)된 것을 말하다. 대부분은 유산, 사산이 되지만 출생하면 제2기 이후의 발진을 보인다. 발현시기에 따라서 ① 태아매독, ② 유아매독, ③ 만발성 선천매독으로 분류된다. ①에서는 뼈연골염, 간-지라 비대와 매독성 천포창, ②에서는 파로가성마비와 매독성 코염, ③에서는 허친슨 세징후(허친슨 치아, 속귀성 난청, 실질성 각막염)에 따라 특징이 있다. 기타 수두증, 지능발육 불량 등을 자주 볼 수 있다. 매독 혈청반응은 대부분의 경우 양성으로 나온다. 매우 드물게 간세포내에서 매독균을 무수히 볼 수 있다. 간세포 주변의 섬유화와 함께 불규칙한 흉터(hepar lobatum)를 만들 수 있다. |

| chronic symptomatic HIV infection | This refers to an HIV infection that is characterised by signs and symptoms of HIV that are not life-threatening. Examples include oral thrush, gingivitis, seborrheic dermatitis, molluscum contangiosum, fevers, fatigue, lymph node swelling, malaise and weight loss. This stage can be a signal for the conversion from asymptomatic HIV disease to HIV disease (moe pronouced symptoms include joint pains).
