| 설명 | 심신의 활동이 최고로 발휘되는 성인기 이후에 쇠퇴하기 시작한 때부터 죽음에 이르기까지의 시기. 노년기에 이르면 신체 각 기관의 기능이 저하되며, 정신적 제반 능력도 점차 감퇴한다. 노년기는 초로기-노화기-노쇠기로 나눌 수 있으나 개인차가 크고, 기능이나 기관의 감퇴는 반드시 일정하지 않으므로 분명하게 연령적으로 구분하기는 곤란하다. 그러나 대체로 45~50세부터 노화로 향하는 과정이 시작되므로 45~55세를 초로기라 하고, 65~75세를 노쇠기의 문턱으로 보며, 그 사이를 노화기라고 한다. |

| 설명 | 생리적 연령의 일종으로 나이를 더함에 따른 뼈의 성숙도를 평가하여 어린이의 전신발육을 판정하는 것이다. 뼈나이 평가에는 손목뼈나 발목뼈의 X선사진을 바탕으로 각 화골중심의 형태나 수를 평가한다. 손목뼈의 화골개수를 세는 방법은 간단해서 그의 수는 난 해를 포함한 연령과 거의 일치하지만 뼈발육의 지속을 가늠할 수 있다. |

| gestational diabetes | A glucose intolerance which occurs in pregnancy, usually noticed between the 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy. Although the symptoms of this form of diabetes are mild and nonserious for the mother, elevated blood glucose in the mother has been associated with an increased risk of foetal and newborn death. Risk factors for gestational diabetes include maternal age over 25, family history of diabetes, obesity, birth weight over 9 lb in a previous delivery or a history for congenital birth defect or death, in a previous newborn.
