| 설명 | 손가락, 발가락의 끝에 존재하는 딱딱한 등판을 말하는데 주로 각질로 구성되어 있으며, 성장은 손톱뿌리(nail root)의 세포분열에 의해 일어난다. 대개 1주일에 1mm정도의 성장을 보이며, 빠진 손톱이 다시 자라는 데 3~5개월 가량이 소요된다. 발톱은 손톱보다 늦게 자라는 편이다. 손톱의 각부위에도 명칭이 붙여져 있으며, 그 이름은 다음과 같다. 손톱에서 가장 근위쪽에 반달모양같이 존재하는 것이 반달(lunula)인데 이 밑에 손톱뿌리가 존재한다. 또한 그 보다 근위에 있는 피부조직을 소피(cuticle=eponychium)라 부른다.  |

| Neufeld capsular swelling | Increase in opacity and visibility of the capsule of capsulated organisms exposed to specific agglutinating anticapsular antibodies.
