||
||
||

| mesothelial | Relating to the mesothelium. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| mesothelial cell | One of the flat cell's of mesenchymal origin that form the superficial layer of the serosal membranes lining the body cavities of the abdomen and thorax. (05 Mar 2000) |
| mesothelial hyloma | <tumour> A neoplasm derived from tissue of mesothelial origin. (05 Mar 2000) |
| neoplasms, mesothelial | Neoplasms composed of tissue of the mesothelium, the layer of flat cells, derived from the mesoderm, which lines the body cavity of the embryo. In the adult it forms the simple squamous epithelium which covers all true serous membranes (peritoneum, pericardium, pleura). The concept does not refer to neoplasms located in these organs. (12 Dec 1998) |
| vaginal process of peritoneum | A peritoneal diverticulum in the embryonic lower anterior abdominal wall that traverses the inguinal canal; in the male it forms the tunica vaginalis testis and normally loses its connection with the peritoneal cavity; a persistent processus vaginalis in the female is known as the canal of Nuck. Synonym: Nuck's diverticulum, processus vaginalis peritonei, vaginal process of peritoneum, vaginal process of testis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| visceral peritoneum | The layer of peritoneum investing the abdominal organs. Synonym: peritoneum viscerale. (05 Mar 2000) |
| peritoneum | <anatomy> The smooth serous membrane which lines the cavity of the abdomen, or the whole body cavity when there is no diaphragm, and, turning back, surrounds the viscera, forming a closed, or nearly closed, sac. Alternative forms: peritonaeum. Origin: L. Peritoneum, peritonaeum, Gr, fr. To stretch all around or over; around + to stretch. Source: Websters Dictionary (01 Mar 1998) |
