| 설명 | 생물체 또는 그 일부를 고정하기 위한 시약. 조직이나 세포를 가능하면 살아 있을 때와 가까운 상태로 고정하기 위해서 고안한 것으로, 연구의 목적에 따라 무기산-무기염류-염화물-유기산, 그 밖에 여러 종류의 시약이 단독 또는 혼합액으로 사용된다. 약 200여 종이 고안되어 있다. 포르말린은 단백질의 응고작용과 중합작용을 가지고 있기 때문에 우수한 고정액 또는 그 재료가 된다. 그러나 응고작용은 강하나 투과성이 약하므로 이것에 아세트산을 혼합하면 더 우수한 고정액이 된다. |

| Marchi's tract | A bundle of thick, heavily myelinated fibres originating in the deep layers of the superior colliculus, crossing to the opposite side in the dorsal tegmental decussation, descending along the median plane, between the medial longitudinal fasciculus dorsally, the medial lemniscus ventrally, into the anterior funiculus of the spinal cord. The tract ends in the medial region of the anterior horn of the cervical spinal cord, and appears to be involved in head movements during visual and auditory tracking. Throughout its course in the brainstem it is accompanied by fibres of the tectobulbar tract.
