| 설명 | 임산부의 정상분만을 돕고 임신부-산욕부-신생아의 보건지도를 하는 여자 의료인. 1914년에 제정된 ‘산파규칙’에는 전통적으로 산구완하던 사람의 이름을 따서 산파로 지칭되어 오다가, 1952년 의료법 개정으로 조산원이 되고, 1987년 다시 법이 개정되어 조산사로 불리게 되었다. 또 1988년 이전에는 보사부령이 정하는 면허를 받은 자를 그 자격자로 하였으나, 1989년부터는 국가시험을 거쳐 면허를 받도록 하였다. 의료법에 의하면, 조산사가 되고자 하는 자는 ① 간호사의 면허를 가지고 보건사회부장관이 인정하는 의료기관에서 1년간 조산의 실습과정을 마친 자, ② 보건사회부장관이 인정하는 외국의 조산사 면허를 받은 자로서 보건사회부장관이 시행하는 국가시험에 합격한 후 면허를 받아야 한다고 규정하고 있다(제6조). |
