| 설명 | 급격한 혈액 공급의 차단으로 인해서 조직이 죽는 것을 말한다. 뇌경색증은 뇌의 조직이 혈류의 급격한 차단에 의해서 죽은 것을 말한다. 혈류가 완전히 차단되면 국소에 혈액이 없어지므로 그 조직에 경색이 생기게 된다. 경색이 생긴 부위는 혈액의 공급이 없으므로 원칙적으로는 정상적으로 혈류가 공급되는 부위보다 창백하고 희게 보인다. 이런 부분을 백색경색(white infarct) 또는 빈혈경색(anemic infarct)라 한다. 하지만 이 부위에 이차적으로 적혈구가 빠져 들어가면 그 부위는 피가 고이게 되고 적색을 띠게 된다. 이런 부분을 적색경색(red infarct) 또는 출혈경색(hemorrhagic infarct)이라고 한다. 뇌의 경색증에는 이 두 가지 모두 발생가능하다. |

| 설명 | 대뇌의 혈액을 공급하는 동맥. 대뇌의 앞부분의 혈액을 공급하는 앞대뇌동맥(anterior cerebral artery), 중간부위의 혈액을 공급하는 중간대뇌동맥(middle cerebral artery), 뒷부분의 혈액을 공급하는 뒤대뇌동맥(posterior cererbral artery)의 세 가지가 있다. 대뇌는 크게 두 가지 동맥에 의해서 혈액을 공급받는다. 하나는 속목동맥(internal carotid artery)이고 하나는 척추동맥(vertebral artery)이다. 이 동맥들은 좌-우로 두 개씩 쌍을 이루어 뇌에 혈액을 공급한다. 척추동맥은 대동맥에서 나와서 목뼈에 있는 가로돌기구멍을 통해서 머리쪽으로 올라온다. 그리고는 두 개의 좌우 척추가 한 개로 합쳐져서 바닥동맥라는 동맥을 이룬다. 목동맥은 대동맥에서 기시하여 속목동맥과 바깥목동맥으로 나뉜다(나뉘기 이전을 온목동맥이라 한다). 바깥목동맥은 얼굴과 뇌를 제외한 머리의 부위에 혈액을 공급하는 혈관이고, 속목동맥은 뇌에 혈액을 공급한다.   |

| 설명 | 심장에 피를 공급하는 혈관이 막혀서, 그 동맥에 의해 영양분을 공급받는 부위가 괴사(죽는다는 뜻)에 빠지는 것을 말함. 주로 동맥경화증(동맥에 지방성분, 주로 콜레스테롤 등이 쌓여 동맥이 굳어서 딱딱해지는 병적상태) 등으로 혈관이 좁아져 있는 상태에서 혈전(적혈구, 혈소판 등 피의 성분이 뭉쳐서 발생) 이 발생하거나, 지나친 동맥경화증자체 등에 의해 발생한다. 현재 미국 등, 선진국에서의 가장 큰 사망요인이 되고 있다. 또한 이 주위에는 대개 심근허혈부위가 존재하는데 이 부위는 현재 피가 모자라서 막 괴사에 빠지기 직전의 세포가 있는 부위이다. 따라서 이 허혈상태에서 빠른 치료를 시행하여 피가 공급되면, 이 부위는 정상적인 상태로 되겠지만, 만약 계속 이 상태로 있게 되면, 언젠가는 역시 경색증에 빠져 심장운동에 막대한 지장을 초래하게 될 것이다. |
