| Albarran y Dominguez' tubules | Minute submucosal glands or branching tubules in the subcervical region of the prostate gland, emptying for the most part into the posterior portion of the urethra. Synonym: Albarran y Dominguez' tubules. (05 Mar 2000) |
| malpighian tubules | One of the tubular or hairlike excretory organs arising from the midgut-hindgut junction of many arthropods. Two to several hundred such tubules may be present. They collect waste from the body fluids and discharge them into the hindgut. Malpighian refers to the italian anatomist marcello malpighi, 1628-1694. (12 Dec 1998) |
| paragenital tubules | Remnants of embryonic mesonephric tubule's, some of which form the paradidymis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| wolffian tubules | Remnants of the mesonephric tubule's in the female, contained within the epoophoron. Synonym: wolffian tubules. (05 Mar 2000) |
| seminiferous tubules | The canals through which the testicular spermatozoa are conveyed to the rete testis. (12 Dec 1998) |
| Skene's tubules | The embryonic urethral glands which are the female homologue of the prostate. (05 Mar 2000) |
| dental tubules | Minute, wavy, branching tubes or canals in the dentin; they contain the long cytoplasmic processes of odontoblasts and extend radially from the pulp to the dentoenamel junction. Synonym: dental tubules, dentinal canals, dentinal tubules, tubuli dentales. (05 Mar 2000) |
| dentinal tubules | Minute, wavy, branching tubes or canals in the dentin; they contain the long cytoplasmic processes of odontoblasts and extend radially from the pulp to the dentoenamel junction. Synonym: dental tubules, dentinal canals, dentinal tubules, tubuli dentales. (05 Mar 2000) |
| kidney tubules, collecting | Straight tubes commencing in the radiate part of the kidney cortex where they receive the curved ends of the distal convoluted tubules. In the medulla the collecting tubules of each pyramid converge to join a central tube (duct of bellini) which opens on the summit of the papilla. (12 Dec 1998) |

| Henle, Friedrich | <person> German anatomist, pathologist, and histologist born in Furth, near Nuremberg, 1809. He was a student and Prosector of Anatomy in Berlin and became Professor of Anatomy in Zurich in 1840. In 1844 went to Heidelberg. From 1852 until his death was professor of Anatomy in Gottingen. Was one of the most celebrated German Anatomists of Jewish descent, well known for his many contributions to microscopic anatomy. D. 1885. Henle's Loop - the looped portion of the uriniferous tubules of the kidney. Allgemeine Anatomie. Leipzig. 1841. Systematiche Anatomie. Brunswick. 1855. Many other structures are associated with Henle's name and more than twenty ligaments were named by him. Lived: 1809-1885. See: crypts of Henle, Henle's ampulla, Henle's ansa, Henle's glands, Henle's fissures, Henle's layer, Henle's fibre layer, Henle's nervous layer, Henle's loop, Henle's membrane, Henle's fenestrated elastic membrane, Henle's reaction, Henle's sheath, Henle's spine, Henle's tubules, Henle's warts, Hassall-Henle bodies. | Henle's ampulla | The dilation of the ductus deferens where it approaches its contralateral partner just before it is joined by the duct of the seminal vesicle. Synonym: ampulla ductus deferentis, Henle's ampulla. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Henle's ansa | The U-shaped part of the nephron extending from the proximal to the distal convoluted tubules, consisting of descending and ascending limbs, located in the medulla renalis and medullary ray. Synonym: Henle's ansa, Henle's loop. (05 Mar 2000) |
