| 설명 | 가족을 치료 대상으로 하는 심리요법 중의 하나. 가족중의 문제는 문제를 가진 개인만이 아니라 문제 가족을 대상으로 해결해 나갈 필요가 있다는 인식을 바탕으로 하여 가족 전체의 심리적 성숙을 목표로 한 요법이다. 크게 나누어 가족 중의 특정인을 대상으로 하여 각각 다른 독립된 치료를 하는 병행심리요법과 가족 전체를 동시 면접하는 방법을 주로 하는 합동가족요법이 있는데, 특히 후자를 가리켜 가족요법 이라고 하는 경우가 많다. |

| 설명 | 새로 생긴 물질이라는 뜻이다. 이것은 다른 말로 “종양(tumor)”이라고도 하는 데, 실제로 이들의 명확한 뜻은 서로 다르다. 종양이라는 말은 “그 크기가 1cm가 넘는 일종의 혹”을 말하는 것으로 피부과에서는 이보다 작은 혹을 구진이라고 하여 구별하여 부른다. 하지만, 이것은 또한 피부뿐만 아니라 신체내 어디에서든 생길 수 있으므로 모두 통칭하여 종양이라고 부른다. 이에 비해 “신생물”은 신체내 없던 것이 새로 생겨났다는 뜻으로 붙인 말이다. 그러나, 이 둘의 관계를 명확히 규정짓지 않고 있으며 대개 같은 뜻으로 혼용된다. 신생물에는 “양성(benign)”과 “악성(malignant)”이 있다. 이 둘의 구별은 여러 가지 기준에 따르지만, 때로는 구별이 어려울 때도 있다. 대개 양성은 생명단축을 잘 일으키지 않는 것으로 치료후에 재발도 잘 하지 않는다. 이에 비해 악성은 재발뿐만 아니라 다른 기관으로 옮겨가서 같은 병변이 발생하는 “전이(metastasis)”현상도 일어난다. 따라서 생명을 단축시키는 경우가 많으며, 대개 치료가 어렵다. |

| 설명 | 앞가슴의 중앙부가 깔대기 모양으로 함몰되어 있는 것. 대부분 유전성으로 심한 경우에는 심장이나 허파에 장애를 일으킨다. 인구 300~400명의 신생아 중 1명이 이 질환에 걸릴 수 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 보통 이 증상을 갖고 있는 사람은 마른체형이고 척추후만 등 자세의 이상을 동반하는 경우가 많다. 보통 신생아기, 영아기 등 어려서부터 알게 되며, 기형적인 모습 때문에 학교생활이나 사회생활을 할 때 지장을 받을 수도 있다. 남자에게 많이 발생하고, 상기도폐색-기관지연화증과 관련되어 생길 수도 있다. 보통의 경우 증상이 없지만, 심한 경우 심폐기능의 장애로 인해 운동할 때 숨이 차고, 반복되는 감기증상이 있을 수 있다. 승모판 탈출, 조기흥분증후군이 나타나는 경우도 있다. |

| colon cancer, family history of | Colorectal cancer can run in families. The colon cancer risk is higher if an immediate (first-degree) family member (parents, siblings or children) had colorectal cancer and even higher if more than one such relative had colorectal cancer or if a family member developed the cancer at young age (younger than 55 years).
