| 설명 | 냄새감각. 냄새감각은 비강의 가장 위쪽에서 이루어진다. 콧구멍을 통해 들어온 공기의 일부는 위로 올라가 냄새감각을 일으키게 하고, 일부는 코안을 거쳐, 인두를 넘어가 폐로 이어져 호흡활동을 하게 된다. 코안각을 담당하는 세포는 중추신경계 대부분의 세포가 손상되었을 때 재생이 안되는 것과 별개로 재생이 가능하다. |

| esthesioneuroblastoma | A malignant olfactory neuroblastoma arising from the olfactory epithelium of the superior nasal cavity and cribriform plate. It is uncommon (3% of nasal tumours) and its aetiology is unknown. The type and extent of primary therapy depends on tumour size and location. Generally early-stage disease is treated with a single modality approach such as complete excision. Adjuvant radiotherapy is used for extensive tumours or for tumours where microscopic residual disease is suspected. It has a high propensity for multiple local recurrences. | olfactory bulb | Ovoid body resting on the cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone where the olfactory nerve terminates. The olfactory bulb contains several types of nerve cells including the mitral cells, on whose dendrites the olfactory nerve synapses, forming the olfactory glomeruli.
