| desmopressin acetate |
Desmopressin acetate (DDAVP), a synthetic analog of arginine vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone), has a highly specific antidiuretic effect, a relatively long half-life and an extended duration of action. Desmopressin is administered through nasal insufflation. It is rapidly absorbed by the nasal mucosa and achieves maximum plasma concentration in about 45 minutes. The biologic half-life of desmopressin acetate is four to six hours. 34
