Jean Baptiste Gabriel Joachim, born 1916. French physician and immunologist; co-winner, with Baruj Benacerraf and George D. Snell, of the Nobel prize for medicine or physiology in 1980 for their research on genetically determined structures of the cell surface that regulate immunological reactions. Dausset identified the first human leukocyte antigen “MAC.”
