| 설명 | 소화기관의 일부분으로 이자액을 분비한다. 그리고, 기타 대사에 관여하는 호르몬을 랑게르한스 섬세포에서 분비한다. 복부내 샘창자의 뒤쪽에 위치하며, 복벽에 붙어 있다. 그리고 이자액을 분비하는 이자관은 담즙을 분비하는 온쓸개관과 함께 샘창자의 중간부에 개구한다. 따라서 이자머리부의 종양으로 주위 장기를 압박하게 되면, 주위의 온쓸개관이 같이 눌리게 되어 담즙분비가 되지 않아 황달이 나타난다. 소화효소인 이자액을 분비하고, 위에서 내려온 위산을 중화시킬 수 있는 중화효소를 분비한다. 그리고 랑게르한스섬세포에서 대사에 특이한 호르몬을 분비한다. 랑게르한스섬세포는 염색의 형태에 따라 2가지 세포가 존재하는데, 먼저 알파세포(alpha cell: 10~30%정도)는 빨갛게 염색되며 글루카곤을 분비한다. 그리고 다른 한 종류인 베타세포(beta cell: 60~90%정도)는 파랗게 염색되며, 인슐린을 분비한다. |

| accessory pancreas | A detached portion of pancreatic tissue, usually the uncinate process, and hence most often found in the vicinity of the head of the pancreas, but may occur within the gut wall (stomach or duodenum). Synonym: pancreas accessorium. Annular pancreas, a ring of pancreas encircling the duodenum, caused by a failure of the embryologic ventral pancreas to migrate to the right of the duodenum. | annular pancreas | A rare condition where a ring of pancreatic tissue that forms around the duodenum causing partial or complete obstruction of the duodenum. A complete duodenal obstruction may be detected in the newborn although partial obstructions may not be detected well into adulthood. Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms. | cancer, pancreas | Cancer of the organ which produces many juices that are important for digesting food as well as hormones, such as insulin and glucagon. Pancreatic cancer has been called a silent disease because early pancreatic cancer usually does not cause symptoms. If the tumour blocks the common bile duct and bile cannot pass into the digestive system, the skin and whites of the eyes may become yellow, and the urine darker as a result of accumulated bile pigment called bilirubin.
