| 설명 | 임신을 방지하는 물건 혹은 약제. 외용인 살정자제와 내용의 경구피임약이 있다. 살정자제는 아세트산페닐수은-황산옥시퀴놀린(퀴노졸) 등을 주성분으로 하여 좌약-정제-크림제-젤리제 등으로 하여 사용한다. 정자는 산에 약하므로 타르타르산-젖산으로 산성으로 하고, 또는 소다(탄산수소나트륨)를 가하여 수분에 의해서 이산화탄소를 발생시켜 정자가 자궁구멍에 침입하는 것을 막는 것도 있다. 좌약이나 알약은 질 안에서 녹아 충분히 확산하지 않으면 효과가 없으므로 좌약은 성교 5분 전쯤, 정제는 20~30분전에 질 속에 넣어야 하며, 시간이 너무 지나면 1알을 추가해야 한다. 이에 대하여 젤리제-크림제 등은 주입기를 사용하여 질 깊이 넣어야 한다. 에오로솔식 발포크림 외에는 콘돔-페서리에 칠하여 병용하면 확실성이 증가한다. 경구피임약은 난소호르몬의 에스트로겐과 황체호르몬의 프로게스테론의 혼합물이다. 피파(P wave) 심장의 심전도상에 표시되는 한 부분. 심방의 수축을 의미한다.  |

| 설명 | 약을 투여하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있다. 크게 나누어 보면, 입을 거쳐 위창자계를 통해 넣는 방법과 위창자계를 통하지 않고 바로 혈액으로 넣는 방법이 있다. 위창자계를 통하지 않는 방법으로 가장 흔한 방법은 주사를 이용하는 방법이다. 하지만, 이외에 항문을 통해 넣는 좌약식방법과 혀밑에 넣는 혀밑투여법도 있다. 그러나 대부분의 약제는 경구복용을 하게 된다. 경구복용에 대한 약자는 p.o.(per oral)로 표기한다. 경구복용제의 단점은 복용한 약제가 위창자관계를 거치면서 사람마다 각기 다른 흡수정도와 대사정도를 거치게 되므로 일정한 농도유지가 어렵다는데 있다. 또한 경구복용제의 모양이 캡슐형인지, 혹은 가루형인지에 따라서도 같은 약이지만, 서로 다른 효과를 나타낼 수 있다. |
