| 설명 | 1. 낱낱의 생물체에 들어있는 유전정보 전체를 이르는 말. 진핵세포에서는 염색체 쌍내에, 세균에서는 단일염색체에, 또 바이러스에서는 DNA나 RNA 내에 함유되어 있다. 1920년 H. 윙클러는 단배체의 염색체 한 쌍을 게놈이란 용어로 사용하기를 제창했다. 유전자(gene)와 염색체(chromosome) 두 단어를 합성한 것이 genome으로 우리말로는 유전체로 표준화되었다. 1유전체 속에는 상동염색체가 포함될 수 없으며, 유전체 속의 한개의 염색체 또는 그 일부분만 상실되어도 생활기능에 중대한 영향을 받는다. 유전체를 구성하는 염색체는 각종 생물에 있어서 고유의 기본수로 이루어져 있다. 이와 같이 유전체가 여러 개의 장으로 구성된 교과서라고 한다면 염색체는 개개의 장이라 할 수 있고, 유전자는 장을 구성하는 문장이라 할 것이며, 다시 문장을 구성하는 글자 하나하나가 염기쌍이라고 할 수 있다. 2. 한 개체에 있는 유전자의 완전한 세트. |

| 설명 | 콜레라균(Vibrio cholerae)에 의한 급성 감염증. 대량의 체액과 전해질의 상실을 수반하는 중증의 설사, 구토, 대사성산증, 근경련, 허탈을 특징으로 한다. 콜레라균의 특이한 독소는 나트륨 흡수를 저해하고, 물과 전해질의 배출을 촉진한다. 이 결과로 생기는 위독한 탈수상태는 쇼크 또는 콩팥기능상실을 초래한다. 이 병은 오염된 음식과 물에 의해서 전염되는 것이 보통이며 아시아에서 지방유행성 또는 유행성으로 많이 발생한다. 항구나 공항에서 검역을 실시하여 침입을 예방하고, 만약 환자가 발생하면 특정 병원에 격리시켜 치료를 한다. 유행시에는 생수-날음식 등을 먹지 말아야 한다. 예방주사도 유효하며, 부작용은 적다. |
