| 설명 | 자궁이란 태아가 수태되어서 분만전까지 발육하고 성장하는 공간이다. 자궁속에 병변이 있어 임신이 계속될 수 없거나 아니면 다른 이유로 임신되어 있는 태아를 제거하고자 할 경우에 사용되는 방법이다. 여기서 긁어내기 위하여는 우선 자궁의 입구에 해당하는 자궁목을 확장시켜야 한다. 여기에는 급속히 확장을 시도하는 법과 서서히 확장을 시도하는 2가지 방법이 있다. 자궁목을 급속히 확장할 때는 헤가르 목관확장기(Hegar's dilatator)를 사용한다. 이것은 작은 금속막대로 작은 크기부터 큰 크기까지 다양한 크기가 있어서 우선 작은 막대로 시작하여 점점 큰 크기의 막대를 자궁목에 넣어서 자궁목을 확장시킨다. 서서히 확장시킬 때는 Laminaria tent를 목관에 삽입하는 방법을 사용한다. Laminaria tent란 해초로 만든 작은 막대로 수분을 흡수하면 점점 늘어나는 성질이 있다. 이것을 자궁의 목에 넣으면 이것이 수분을 흡수하여 늘어나므로 천천히 자궁의 목이 늘어난다. 자궁목이 충분히 늘어나면 그 속으로 끝이 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 넣어서 자궁속의 병변이나 임신된 태아를 긁어내는데 여기에 사용되는 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 큐렛이라고 한다. 초기 임신중절 즉 유산과 같은 임신과 관련된 경우뿐만 아니라, 비임신 자궁의 자궁내막조직의 채취 및 제거를 위해서도 행해지는 수기이다. 이는 원칙적으로 마취하에 실시되는 것으로 자궁목관을 확장하고 기구로 자궁 내용물을 제거하고 큐렛으로 자궁내벽을 깨끗이 한다. 자궁천공이나 자궁목의 파열 등의 위험이 따르며, 수술후 감염 또는 출혈 등에 대한 주의가 필요하다. |

| 설명 | 폐포내의 공기가 기침중추의 흥분으로 기도를 통해 폭발적으로 소리를 내며 튀어나오는 방어-반사현상. 주로 목-기관-기관지 등의 기도 점막에 분포하는 미주신경의 말초가 자극을 받아 기침중추가 흥분됨으로써 일어나는 현상이다. 기침은 호흡기계 질환의 중요한 증상의 하나이지만, 심장병이나 기생충병-수막염 등에서도 일어나는 경우가 있다. 기침은 마른기침과 젖은 기침으로 대별되며, 마른기침은 가래를 동반하지 않는다. 기관지염에서 기관지의 충혈-부종 등에 의한 자극으로 일어나는 것과, 기도 이외의 미주신경 지배 영역의 자극으로 일어나는 것이 있으며 자극성 기침 또는 마른기침이라고도 한다. 젖은기침은 가래를 동반하며, 기관지와 허파의 염증에 의한 삼출액의 자극으로 일어나고, 숨길내의 병적 분비물을 몸밖으로 배출하는데 도움이 된다. 기침은 원래 폐를 유해물질의 침입으로부터 방어하는 중요한 방어기능으로 간주된다. 그러나 기도에 염증 등이 생기면 그 자체가 자극이 되어 질병이 계속되는 한 기침이 일어나 환자를 괴롭힌다. |

| 설명 | 이것은 주로 소아에서 백일해 균에 의해서 발생하는 상기도(위쪽의 기도를 말함. 즉 인두, 후두, 기관을 말함)감염증이다. 특징적인 갑작스런 큰 기침이 증상으로 나타난다. 치료는 항생제의 투여이며, 때로는 폐렴으로 발전하기도 한다. 현재 우리나라에서는 백일해에 대한 예방접종을 디프테리아(diphteria), 파상풍(tetanus)과 같이 실시하고 있다. |

| 설명 | 약을 투여하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있다. 크게 나누어 보면, 입을 거쳐 위창자계를 통해 넣는 방법과 위창자계를 통하지 않고 바로 혈액으로 넣는 방법이 있다. 위창자계를 통하지 않는 방법으로 가장 흔한 방법은 주사를 이용하는 방법이다. 하지만, 이외에 항문을 통해 넣는 좌약식방법과 혀밑에 넣는 혀밑투여법도 있다. 그러나 대부분의 약제는 경구복용을 하게 된다. 경구복용에 대한 약자는 p.o.(per oral)로 표기한다. 경구복용제의 단점은 복용한 약제가 위창자관계를 거치면서 사람마다 각기 다른 흡수정도와 대사정도를 거치게 되므로 일정한 농도유지가 어렵다는데 있다. 또한 경구복용제의 모양이 캡슐형인지, 혹은 가루형인지에 따라서도 같은 약이지만, 서로 다른 효과를 나타낼 수 있다. |
