| 설명 | 다른 사람들이 자기를 살피고 쳐다 볼수 있는 상황을 두려워하고 그런 상황에 처하면 수치심을 느끼는 공포장애(phobic disorder)의 일종. 사람을 만나기 전에 미리 예상하고 불안(anticipatory anxiety: 예상을 하는 것 자체만으로 불안을 느끼는 것)을 심하게 느끼므로 사람과 접촉하는 것을 피한다. 흔한 사회 공포증으로는 사람앞에서 말하기를 두려워하는 대화공포(fear of public speaking), 사람앞에서 얼굴을 붉히는 것을 두려워하는 적면공포(erythrophobia), 사람 앞에서의 식사를 두려워하는 식사공포(sitophobia), 사람 앞에서의 글 쓰기를 두려워하는 서필공포, 공중변소를 사용하기를 두려워하는 공중변소공포등이 있음. 이 장애는 아동기 후반 혹은 사춘기 초반에 시작되며 가족적으로 발병하는 경향이 많다. 합병증으로는 과음, 항불안 약물 남용 등이 있다. |

| 설명 | 혈압, pH 등과 같이 생체의 기능 및 상태를 안정시키고자 하는 작용 : pH 7인 순수한 물에서 소량의 산 또는 알칼리를 가하면 그 양에 따라 물의 pH가 뚜렷하게 변한다. 그러나 약한 산과 그 염의 혼합용액, 또는 약한 산기와 그 염의 혼합용액으로 이루어지는 계에서는 약간의 산 또는 알칼리를 가해도 완충작용 때문에 pH는 거의 변하지 않는다. 예를 들어, 약한 산과 그 염의 혼합용액으로 이루어지는 계系에 산을 가했을 때를 생각하면, 산에 의해서 가해진 수소이온 H+은 약한 산이온과 결합하여 비해리인 산이 되어 pH가 변하지 않는다. 또 알칼리를 가했을 때는 가해진 수산이온 OH－이 H+과 결합하여 물을 만들고, 부족한 H+은 비해리 약한 산의 해리에 의해서 보충되므로써 역시 pH는 변하지 않는다. |
