| 설명 | 미생물(microorganism)을 연구대상으로 하는 학문. 미생물이라는 생명체를 대상으로 연구하는 생명과학의 한 분야이다. 분류-생리-유전에 관한 것은 생물화학-생물물리학-면역학-유전학 분야에서 주로 연구하고 생태학적 분야를 비롯한 응용분야는 유전자공학-발효공학에서 다룬다. 초기의 미생물학은 사람-동물-곡식류의 병원미생물을 주로 다루는 의학-수의학-식물병리학에서 시작하여, 식품의 발효와 저장문제를 다루는 식품과학과 함께 발전해 왔다. 그러나 오늘날에는 생명현상을 밝히는 기초학문으로서 분자생물학과 함께 중요한 위치를 차지하며, 유전공학과 항생물질의 생산 또는 에너지와 환경오염의 문제 해결에도 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. |

| 설명 | 자궁이란 태아가 수태되어서 분만전까지 발육하고 성장하는 공간이다. 자궁속에 병변이 있어 임신이 계속될 수 없거나 아니면 다른 이유로 임신되어 있는 태아를 제거하고자 할 경우에 사용되는 방법이다. 여기서 긁어내기 위하여는 우선 자궁의 입구에 해당하는 자궁목을 확장시켜야 한다. 여기에는 급속히 확장을 시도하는 법과 서서히 확장을 시도하는 2가지 방법이 있다. 자궁목을 급속히 확장할 때는 헤가르 목관확장기(Hegar's dilatator)를 사용한다. 이것은 작은 금속막대로 작은 크기부터 큰 크기까지 다양한 크기가 있어서 우선 작은 막대로 시작하여 점점 큰 크기의 막대를 자궁목에 넣어서 자궁목을 확장시킨다. 서서히 확장시킬 때는 Laminaria tent를 목관에 삽입하는 방법을 사용한다. Laminaria tent란 해초로 만든 작은 막대로 수분을 흡수하면 점점 늘어나는 성질이 있다. 이것을 자궁의 목에 넣으면 이것이 수분을 흡수하여 늘어나므로 천천히 자궁의 목이 늘어난다. 자궁목이 충분히 늘어나면 그 속으로 끝이 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 넣어서 자궁속의 병변이나 임신된 태아를 긁어내는데 여기에 사용되는 숟가락처럼 생긴 기구를 큐렛이라고 한다. 초기 임신중절 즉 유산과 같은 임신과 관련된 경우뿐만 아니라, 비임신 자궁의 자궁내막조직의 채취 및 제거를 위해서도 행해지는 수기이다. 이는 원칙적으로 마취하에 실시되는 것으로 자궁목관을 확장하고 기구로 자궁 내용물을 제거하고 큐렛으로 자궁내벽을 깨끗이 한다. 자궁천공이나 자궁목의 파열 등의 위험이 따르며, 수술후 감염 또는 출혈 등에 대한 주의가 필요하다. |

| 설명 | 인간활동에 의해 발생하는 대기-수질-토양 오염 및 소음-진동 등으로 자연환경이나 생활환경을 손상시키는 현상. 공장-사업장 등에 생산활동, 자동차-기차-항공기-선박 등의 수송활동, 냉난방-취사-여가선용 등 일상생활을 포함한 각종 인간 활동에 의해 유발되는 인위적인 대기오염- 수질오염-토양오염-소음-진동-지반침하-악취 등의 발생으로 자연환경이나 생활환경을 손상시키고 궁극적으로는 사람의 생활 및 건강에 유해한 영향을 미치는 현상을 말한다. 이는 특히, 산업혁명 이후에 두드러지게 나타났으며, 인간활동이 주어진 환경공간의 고유한 자정능력을 초과할 경우 발생한다. 지금도 공해라고 표현하는 사람이 있으나 현재는 환경오염이라는 용어가 표준용어가 되었다. 공해라는 낱말의 어원은 영국의 공중불법방해에서 비롯되었다고 한다. 그러나 공해라는 말은 주로 일본에서 쓰이고 있을 뿐 국제적으로도 환경오염이라고 한다. |
