Reduviidae A family (order Hemiptera) of predatory insects, the assassin bugs, which attack animals and humans. It includes the subfamily Triatominae, the kissing or cone-nosed bugs, whose type genus Triatoma includes species that are vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi.

redwing <zoology> A European thrush (Turdus iliacus). Its under wing coverts are orange red. Called also redwinged thrush. A North American passerine bird (Agelarius phoeniceus) of the family Icteridae. The male is black, with a conspicuous patch of bright red, bordered with orange, on each wing. Called also redwinged blackbird, red-winged troupial, marsh blackbird, and swamp blackbird.
