| processus uncinatus pancreatis | A portion of the head of the pancreas that hooks around posterior to the superior mesenteric vessels, sometimes into the "nutcracker" formed by the superior mesenteric artery and abdominal aorta. Synonym: processus uncinatus pancreatis, lesser pancreas, pancreas minus, small pancreas, uncinate pancreas, unciform pancreas, Willis' pancreas, Winslow's pancreas. (05 Mar 2000) |

| processus vaginalis of peritoneum | A peritoneal diverticulum in the embryonic lower anterior abdominal wall that traverses the inguinal canal; in the male it forms the tunica vaginalis testis and normally loses its connection with the peritoneal cavity; a persistent processus vaginalis in the female is known as the canal of Nuck. Synonym: Nuck's diverticulum, processus vaginalis peritonei, vaginal process of peritoneum, vaginal process of testis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| processus vaginalis peritonei | A peritoneal diverticulum in the embryonic lower anterior abdominal wall that traverses the inguinal canal; in the male it forms the tunica vaginalis testis and normally loses its connection with the peritoneal cavity; a persistent processus vaginalis in the female is known as the canal of Nuck. Synonym: Nuck's diverticulum, processus vaginalis peritonei, vaginal process of peritoneum, vaginal process of testis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| processus vermiformis | A wormlike intestinal diverticulum extending from the blind end of the caecum; it varies in length and ends in a blind extremity. Synonym: appendix vermiformis, appendix ceci, processus vermiformis, vermiform appendage, vermiform process, vermix. (05 Mar 2000) |
| processus vocalis cartilaginis arytenoidei | The lower end of the anterior margin of the arytenoid cartilage to which the vocal cord is attached. Synonym: processus vocalis cartilaginis arytenoidei, vocal process. (05 Mar 2000) |
| processus xiphoideus | <anatomy> Composed of cartilage at the inferior aspect of the sternal body. (27 Sep 1997) |
| tuberculum laterale processus posterioris tali | The prominence lateral to the groove for the flexor hallucis longus tendon. Synonym: tuberculum laterale processus posterioris tali. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tuberculum mediale processus posterioris tali | The eminence medial to the sulcus for the flexor hallucis longus tendon. Synonym: tuberculum mediale processus posterioris tali. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lamina lateralis processus pterygoidei | The larger and more lateral of the two bony plates extending downward from the point of union of the body and greater wing of the sphenoid bone on either side; forms medial wall of intfratemporal fossa and gives origin to pterygoi muscles. Synonym: lamina lateralis processus pterygoidei, lateral plate of pterygoid process. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lamina medialis processus pterygoidei | The smaller and more medial of the two bony plates extending downward from the point of union of the body and greater wing of the sphenoid bone on either side. Ending inferiorly in the pterygoid hamulus. Synonym: lamina medialis processus pterygoidei, medial plate of pterygoid process. (05 Mar 2000) |
| foramen processus transversi | Foramen processus transversus. Synonym: foramen processus transversi, foramen transversarium, foramen vertebroarterialis, foramen of transverse process, vertebroarterial foramen. (05 Mar 2000) |
| fovea costalis processus transversi | A facet on the transverse process of a vertebra for articulation with the tubercle of a rib. Synonym: fovea costalis processus transversi, costal pit of transverse process. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala major ossis sphenoidalis | Strong squamous processes extending in a broad superolateral curve from the body of the sphenoid bone. The greater wing presents these suraces (facies): 1) cerebral surface: forms anterior third of the floor of the lateral portions of the middle cranial fossa; 2) temporal surface: forms the deepest portion of the temporal fossa; 3) infratemporal surface, forms the "roof" of the infratemporal fossa; 4) orbital surface: forms posterolateral wall of orbit. The greater wing forms the inferior border of the supraorbital fissure, and is perforated at its root by foramina rotundum ovale, and spinosum and the pterygoid canal. Synonym: ala major ossis sphenoidalis, ala temporalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala minor ossis sphenoidalis | One of a bilateral pair of triangular, pointed plates extending laterally from the anterolateral body of the sphenoid bone. Forming the posteriormost portion of the floor of the anterior cranial fossa, their sharp posterior edge forms the sphenoidal ridge separating anterior and middle cranial fossae. The medial end of the lesser wing attaches to the body by means of two pedicles, thus forming the optic canal. The wing itself forms the superior margin of the supraorbital fissure. Synonym: ala minor ossis sphenoidalis, ala orbitalis, Ingrassia's apophysis, Ingrassia's wing. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ala ossis ilii | The upper flaring portion of the ilium. Synonym: ala ossis ilii. (05 Mar 2000) |
