| fasciculus uncinatus | A band of long association fibres reciprocally connecting the frontal and temporal lobes of the cerebrum, running caudally through the white matter of the frontal lobe, sharply curving ventrally under the stem of the sylvian fissure, and then fanning out to the cortex of the anterior half of the superior and middle temporal gyri. Synonym: fasciculus uncinatus, arcuate fasciculus, frontotemporal tract, hooked fasciculus, temporofrontal tract. (05 Mar 2000) |

| lateral pyramidal fasciculus | Those fibres of the pyramidal tract that cross to the opposite side in the pyramidal decussation and descend in the dorsal half of the lateral funiculus of the spinal cord; they are distributed throughout the length of the spinal cord to interneurons of the zona intermedia of the spinal gray matter. See: pyramidal tract. Synonym: tractus corticospinalis lateralis, tractus pyramidalis lateralis, crossed pyramidal tract, fasciculus corticospinalis lateralis, fasciculus pyramidalis lateralis, lateral corticospinal tract, lateral pyramidal fasciculus. | Foville's fasciculus | A slender, compact fibre bundle that connects the amygdala (amygdaloid body) with the hypothalamus and other basal forebrain regions. Originating from the amygdala, the bundle passes first caudalward in the roof of the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle; it follows the medial side of the caudate nucleus forward in the floor of the ventricle's central part (or body) until it reaches the interventricular foramen, in the posterior wall of which it curves steeply down to enter the hypothalamus, with fibres passing both rostral and caudal to the anterior commissure. Coursing caudalward in the medial part of the hypothalamus, the bundle terminates in the anterior and ventromedial hypothalamic nuclei. Synonym: stria terminalis, Foville's fasciculus, Tarin's tenia, tenia saemicircularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| fronto-occipital fasciculus | A bundle of association fibres extending from the frontal to the occipital lobes of the cerebrum. Synonym: fasciculus occipitofrontalis, fronto-occipital fasciculus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lenticular fasciculus | The pallidal efferent fibres that cross the internal capsule and are insinuated between the subthalamic nucleus and zona incerta; they join in the formation of the thalamic fasciculus. See: lenticular loop. Synonym: fasciculus lenticularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Lissauer's fasciculus | A longitudinal bundle of thin, unmyelinated and poorly myelinated fibres capping the apex of the posterior horn of the spinal gray matter, composed of posterior root fibres and short association fibres that interconnect neighboring segments of the posterior horn. Synonym: fasciculus dorsolateralis, tractus dorsolateralis, dorsolateral tract, fasciculus marginalis, Lissauer's bundle, Lissauer's column, Lissauer's fasciculus, Lissauer's marginal zone, Lissauer's tract, marginal fasciculus, Spitzka's marginal tract, Spitzka's marginal zone, Waldeyer's tract, Waldeyer's zonal layer. (05 Mar 2000) |
| aditus glottidis inferior | The part of the cavity of the larynx immediately below the glottis. Synonym: cavitas infraglotticum, aditus glottidis inferior, cavum infraglotticum, inferior laryngeal cavity, infraglottic space. (05 Mar 2000) |
| angulus inferior scapulae | The acute angle formed by junction of the medial and lateral borders of the scapula. Synonym: angulus inferior scapulae. (05 Mar 2000) |
| anterior inferior cerebellar artery | <anatomy, artery> Origin, basilar; distribution, lower surface of lateral lobes of cerebellum, choroid plexus in cerebellopontine angle; anastomoses, posterior inferior cerebellar; usual source of labyrinthine artery. Synonym: arteria cerebelli inferior anterior. (05 Mar 2000) |
| anterior inferior iliac spine | Spine on the anterior border of the ilium between the anterior superior iliac spine and the acetabulum; site of origin for the direct head of the rectus femoris muscle. Synonym: spina iliaca anterior inferior. (05 Mar 2000) |
| anterior inferior segment | Anterior inferior segment of kidney. Synonym: segmentum anterius inferius. (05 Mar 2000) |
| anterior inferior segmental artery of kidney | Origin, anterior branch of renal. See: segmental arteries of kidney. Synonym: arteria segmenti anterioris inferioris renis, artery of anterior {inferior segment of kidney}. (05 Mar 2000) |
| apertura pelvis inferior | The lower opening of the true pelvis, bounded anteriorly by the pubic arch, laterally by the rami of the ischium and the sacrotuberous ligament on either side, and posteriorly by these ligaments and the tip of the coccyx. Synonym: apertura pelvis inferior, apertura pelvis minoris, fourth parallel pelvic plane, pelvic outlet, pelvic plane of outlet, plane of outlet. (05 Mar 2000) |
| apertura thoracis inferior | The inferior boundary of the bony thorax composed of the twelfth thoracic vertebra and the lower margins of the rib cage and sternum. Synonym: apertura thoracis inferior. (05 Mar 2000) |
