| Hunter's g. |
a chronic condition of the tongue seen in pernicious anemia, characterized by glossitis, glossodynia, glossopyrosis, and altered sense of taste; the pain and burning sensation are usually confined to the tongue but may also extend to other parts of the oral mucosa. Ultimately, the tongue becomes atrophic and assumes a beefy red color and a smooth shiny appearance, sometimes with small ulcers spreading over its surface. Called also atrophic g.
