dose equivalent In radiology, the product of the absorbed dose and the quality factor. Expressed in rems or sieverts, it measures the effects of absorbing different types of radiation. SEE: factor, quality.

dose response curve A graph that charts the effect of a specific dose of drug, chemical, or ionizing radiation. In radiology, also called survival curve.

dose equivalent A term used to express the amount of effective radiation received by an individual. A dose equivalent considers the type of radiation, the amount of body exposed, and the risk of exposure. Measured in rems. (See rem).
