| thyroglossal duct | A transitory endodermal tube in the embryo, carrying thyroid-forming tissue at its caudal end; normally, the duct disappears after the thyroid has moved to its definitive location in the neck; its point of origin is regularly marked on the root of the adult tongue by the foramen caecum; occasionally, its incomplete regression results in the formation of cysts along its embryonic course. See: pyramidal lobe of thyroid gland. Synonym: ductus thyroglossus, thyrolingual duct. (05 Mar 2000) |

| thyroglossal duct cyst | A cyst in the midline of the neck resulting from nonclosure of a segment of the ductus thyroglossus. Synonym: cervical cyst. (05 Mar 2000) |
| thyrolingual duct | A transitory endodermal tube in the embryo, carrying thyroid-forming tissue at its caudal end; normally, the duct disappears after the thyroid has moved to its definitive location in the neck; its point of origin is regularly marked on the root of the adult tongue by the foramen caecum; occasionally, its incomplete regression results in the formation of cysts along its embryonic course. See: pyramidal lobe of thyroid gland. Synonym: ductus thyroglossus, thyrolingual duct. (05 Mar 2000) |
| efferent duct | One of 12 to 14 small seminal ducts leading from the testis to the head of the epididymis. Synonym: ductulus efferens testis, vas efferens, efferent duct. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ejaculatory duct | The duct formed by the union of the deferent duct and the excretory duct of the seminal vesicle, which opens into the prostatic urethra. Synonym: ductus ejaculatorius, spermiduct. (05 Mar 2000) |
| endolymphatic duct | Duct connecting the endolymphatic sac with the membranous labyrinth. (12 Dec 1998) |
| epithelium of saemicircular duct | The simple squamous epithelium of the saemicircular ducts. Synonym: epithelium ductus saemicircularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tympanic wall of cochlear duct | The wall that separates the cochlear duct from the scala tympani; it consists of the osseous spiral lamina and the basilar membrane. Synonym: paries tympanicus ductus cochlearis, membrana spiralis, spiral membrane. (05 Mar 2000) |
| excretory duct | A duct carrying the secretion from a gland or a fluid from any reservoir. Synonym: ductus excretorius. (05 Mar 2000) |
| excretory duct of seminal vesicle | The passage leading from a seminal vesicle to the ejaculatory duct. Synonym: ductus excretorius vesiculae seminalis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| jugular duct | Lymphatic vessel on each side, conveying the lymph from the head and neck; that on the right side empties into the right lymphatic duct, that on the left into the thoracic duct. Synonym: truncus jugularis, jugular duct. (05 Mar 2000) |
| external wall of cochlear duct | The wall that faces the outer side of the cochlea. Synonym: paries externus ductus cochlearis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| umbilical duct | A narrow tube present in the early embryo that connects the midgut of the embryo (through the umbilical opening) to the yolk sac outside the embryo. Later in development, the yolk stalk is usually obliterated but a remnants of it may persist, most commonly as a finger-like protrusion from the small intestine known as meckel's diverticulum. Found in 2-4% of people, meckel's diverticulum may become inflamed much like the appendix and require surgical removal. The yolk stalk is also called the umbilical duct, vitelline duct, or oomphalomesenteric duct. (12 Dec 1998) |
| uniting duct | A short membranous tube passing from the lower end of the saccule to the cochlear duct of the membranous labyrinth. Synonym: ductus reuniens, canaliculus reuniens, canalis reuniens, Hensen's canal, Hensen's duct, uniting canal. (05 Mar 2000) |
| utriculosaccular duct | A duct that connects the inner aspect of the utricle with the endolymphatic duct a short distance from its origin from the saccule. Synonym: ductus utriculosaccularis, Bottcher's canal. (05 Mar 2000) |
