| benign prostatic hypertrophy |
as men age, their prostrate may enlarge. This may cause difficulty starting and completely stopping the urinary stream, painful urination, decreased pressure in stream, incomplete emptying and frequency. If cancer is not present, this condition is known as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Various types of surgery, the most common is transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), or hormonal therapy are the usual forms of treatment.
