RMS Root-Mean-Square - a statistical measure of the dispersion or spread of a group of data. The name comes from the fact that the RMS is equal to the square Root of the Mean (average) of the sum of Squares of the values in the data set. With regards to resections, the RMS provides a measure of the quality of the resection.
