The segment of Ku-band satellite service established by the FCC which is provided by high power satellites (or clusters of satellites) which must be separated in orbit by 9 degrees. The frequencies of RF signals transmitted to and received from the BSS satellites are higher than those permitted for FSS satellites. The BSS transmission frequency from high-power satellites to satellite receivers has been established by the FCC between 12.2 - 12.7 GHz.
