acute, often fatal poisoning in humans who drink milk, or eat milk products or meat, from cattle or sheep that were poisoned by eating plants containing tremetol (see trembles); the human disease is marked by weakness, anorexia, vomiting, constipation, and sometimes muscular tremors. Called also milk poisoning.
