a rare, often recurrent, condition, usually occurring in infants less than a year old, in which one or more small, smooth, dome-shaped, skin-colored to slightly red nodules occur on the lateral or dorsal aspects of the fingers and toes; histologically, the lesions are composed of fibrous connective tissue and abundant collagen, and contain characteristic viruslike, black intracellular inclusions. Called also recurring digital fibrous tumors of childhood.
