The rate at which new injuries and illnesses occur for a given job, production line, work area, department or the company. Intervertebral Disc: Elastic disc -- a fibrous outer ring enclosing a pulpy inner nucleus -- interposed between adjoining vertebrae of the spine. Deterioration of the intervertebral disc through injury or disease leads to back pain.
