The dividing point between either zodiac signs or houses. If a person is born 'on the cusp,' it is at a time when the sun is close to the beginning or close to the end of a zodiac sign. A house cusp is the dividing point between houses, shown as one of the lines which radiates out from the center of the chart.

The cusp is the dividing line between two signs or houses in the birthchart. Planets or the Ascendant and Midheaven are said to be "on the cusp" or "cuspal" in a birthchart if they fall extremely close to the end of one sign or house and the beginning of the next sign or house.
