| tenia saemicircularis | A slender, compact fibre bundle that connects the amygdala (amygdaloid body) with the hypothalamus and other basal forebrain regions. Originating from the amygdala, the bundle passes first caudalward in the roof of the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle; it follows the medial side of the caudate nucleus forward in the floor of the ventricle's central part (or body) until it reaches the interventricular foramen, in the posterior wall of which it curves steeply down to enter the hypothalamus, with fibres passing both rostral and caudal to the anterior commissure. Coursing caudalward in the medial part of the hypothalamus, the bundle terminates in the anterior and ventromedial hypothalamic nuclei. Synonym: stria terminalis, Foville's fasciculus, Tarin's tenia, tenia saemicircularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia tecta | See: indusium griseum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia telae | The somewhat thickened line along which a choroid membrane or plexus is attached to the rim of a brain ventricle. Synonym: tenia telae. Teniae coli, the three bands in which the longitudinal muscular fibres of the large intestine, except the rectum, are collected; these are the mesocolic tenia, situated at the place corresponding to the mesenteric attachment; the free tenia, opposite the mesocolic tenia; and the omental tenia, at the place corresponding to the site of adhesion of the greater omentum to the transverse colon. Synonym: bands of colon, colic teniae, teniae of Valsalva. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia terminalis | A vertical crest on the interior wall of the right atrium that lies to the right of the sinus of the vena cava and separates this from the remainder of the right atrium. Synonym: tenia terminalis, terminal crest. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia thalami | The sharp edge or angle between the superior and medial surface of the thalamus on either side; to it is attached the epithelial lamina forming the roof of the third ventricle. Synonym: tenia ventriculi tertii, thalamic tenia. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia ventriculi quarti | The line of attachment of the choroid roof to the rim of the fourth ventricle. Synonym: tenia of fourth ventricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tenia ventriculi tertii | The sharp edge or angle between the superior and medial surface of the thalamus on either side; to it is attached the epithelial lamina forming the roof of the third ventricle. Synonym: tenia ventriculi tertii, thalamic tenia. (05 Mar 2000) |

| teniae acusticae | Slender fascicles of fibres extending transversally below the ependymal floor of the ventricle from the median sulcus to enter the inferior cerebellar peduncle. They arise from the arcuate nuclei on the ventral surface of the medullary pyramid. Synonym: striae medullares ventriculi quarti, acoustic striae, auditory striae, Bergmann's cords, medullary teniae, teniae acusticae. (05 Mar 2000) |

| tense |
Tenseness is a term used in phonology to describe a particular vowel quality that is phonemically contrastive in many languages, including English. It has also occasionally been used to describe contrasts in consonants. Unlike most distinctive features, the feature [tense] can be interpreted only relatively, that is, in a language like English that contrasts (e.g. beat) and (e.g. bit), it is possible to say that the former is a tense vowel while the latter is a lax vowel. ...

| tensiometer |
A tensiometer is a device used to determine soil moisture tension, an indirect measure of soil moisture content. The tensiometer consists of a glass or plastic tube with a porous ceramic tip. It is filled with a liquid, usually colored water. At the top of the tube is a vacuum gauge. The device is buried in the soil, and a hand pump is used to pull a partial vacuum. As water is pulled out of the soil by plants, the vacuum inside the tube increases and can be measured by the gauge. ...
