[TA] superior salivatory nucleus: an ill-defined column of scattered cells in the posterolateral part of the reticular formation of the posterior pons, continuous with the inferior salivatory nucleus; its cells comprise the parasympathetic outflow of the facial nerve for the supply of the lacrimal, nasal, palatine, submandibular, and sublingual glands. Called also superior salivary n. and n. salivarius superior.
