MDI Multiple Document Interface was developed by Microsoft, with menus, buttons, tools, and windows called documents. ArcView is based on the MDI standard, including multiple document types: Project View, Table, Layout, Chart, and Scripts. Documents can be organized and manipulated in a variety of standard ways: tiled, cascaded, iconified, resized, or closed.
