The traditional payment method in US health care, when patients pay doctors, hospitals and other providers for the services rendered at the time of that service, and then seek reimbursement for those costs from their private insurers or the government, if eligible for such a program (eg Medicare). The patient is charged according to a fee schedule set for each service and or procedure provided.
