paramesonephric duct: either of the paired embryonic ducts arising as a peritoneal pocket, extending caudally to join the urogenital sinus; in the female it develops into the uterine tubes and uterus and in the male it degenerates, leaving vestigial structures such as the appendix testis and utriculus prostaticus. Called also d. muelleri, duct of Müller, and gasserian, müllerian, or primordial duct.
