a granulomatous proliferation of lipid-laden histiocytes and multinucleated giant cells with pale eosinophilic cytoplasm having a ground-glass appearance. It occurs in two clinically different but histologically indistinguishable forms, reticulohistiocytic granuloma and multicentric reticulohistiocytosis.
