the most effective nonmechanical technique for emergency artificial respiration. With victim supine, the rescuer places one hand under the nape of the victim's neck and the other hand on the victim's forehead and presses the victim's nostrils closed; rescuer takes a deep breath and breathes out directly between victim's lips (two pairs of lips must form an airtight seal); repeat four times quickly to inflate victim's lungs before allowing the first exhalation.
